We were in Sarahan and today’s plan was to visit Bhimakali Temple in the morning followed by hotel check-out and proceed towards Narkanda as a stop-over before moving towards Delhi next day.
But around 9 AM, our hotel owner from Sangla sent some whatsapp images of today’s weather and view in Sangla, which was simply unbelievable. Sky was clear with no clouds, rain or snowfall and the shining sun was making everything majestic.
After finishing/visiting each and everything as per our plan, today we decided to return back to Delhi (500 km from here). GPS was showing 12 hours if we go non-stop, plus there was road blockage near Delhi entry point in Sonipat/Murthal due to farmer’s protest against farm bills.
We were also discussing an alternate route from Sarahan, which was bit long but there is a waterfall on the route (as told by our taxi driver the day before). Finally we decided to take this route, unaware of the road conditions.
Poovar is a small coastal, fisherman village located 35 km from Trivandrum and 20 km from Kovalam.
There is a magical island beach here called Poovar Island which is surrounded by a river called Neyyar and Arabian Sea on either side.

मुरुदेश्वर भगवान शिव का एक नाम है। पहले इसे मृदेशलिंगा कहते थे जो बाद में मुरुदेश्वर हो गया। भगवान मुरुदेश्वर का पुराना भव्य मंदिर है जिसमें पूजा होती है लेकिन बाद में एक व्यवसायी “आर एन शेट्टी” ने प्रसिद्ध मूर्तिकार “शिवामोग्गा” से एक भव्य, विशाल शिव मूर्ति बनवाने की इच्छा की। मूर्ति का स्थान “कनकूडा पहाड़” पर सोचा गया जहां से सूर्य की सबसे पहली किरण मूर्ति पर पड़े और वो और ज्यादा सुनहरी होकर जगमगा उठे।
